Anthony recently graduated from our first class of AZ Stitch Lab students! A member of Tohono O' Odham tribe, Anthony did not anticipate a career in the textiles industry, but became interested when his mother came home with information about the Program. Thanks to a mother's power of persuasion, he soon found himself in the Stitch Lab's inaugural class of students from the Pascua Yaqui Tribe.
During the 6-week program, Anthony learned the basics of Industrial Sewing including machine safety and maintenance, a variety of stitches, pattern making, cutting and the nuances of apparel construction.
Today Anthony is employed at the Sonoran Stitch Factory working on a line of custom automotive seat cushions for a long-time client. Congratulations Anthony for a job well done!
